So we, the Brooklyn Nets fanbase, decided that you need to understand that Brooklyn is different. Brooklyn is Bold. Brooklyn is Big. Brooklyn is Beyond all of our expectations. Brooklyn is going to give you unrivaled support on a nightly basis, in a billion dollar arena built for a worldwide superstar. Brooklyn will make #8 the number one selling NBA jersey in the league next year. Brooklyn will make De-Ron Wi-lliams a chant. We have tons of experience with chants in New York. Just ask this man:

So if you can’t just visualize 18,000 strong dressed in black making Deron Williams a chant, let this campaign be evidence that it will be.

We can go on and on and try and convince you to stay, but that’s not what we’re going to do here. We’re going to thank you. Thank you for moments like this:

And because you poured your heart and soul into this team we will not beg, we will not pressure, we will simply stand by and wait patiently. We will wait as you and your family make a decision that shouldn’t have much to do with a fanbase. You have earned the right to choose where you want to go and we will remain fans regardless of where you go.

Please don’t mistake our campaign for anything other than recognizing an extraordinary talent and an equally extraordinary person. As such, or campaign will not be limited to basketball. We will use the typically frustrating process that is Free Agency to raise money for your Point of Hope Foundation. We will use the typically frustrating Free Agency process to build an eager fanbase through contests and events.

We aren’t asking you to follow, we aren’t asking you to re-tweet, actually, we aren’t asking you for absolutely anything other than recognizing that we do appreciate and we will show you unrivaled support should you choose to make Brooklyn home.

Our first goal is to demonstrate to Deron the power of the New York media and the power of his fans. Whether you are tweeting from the state of New Jersey or any of the 5 boroughs, we want you to help us achieve our 1st goal.

Here’s how it will work:

Time: 6:00 PM Eastern Time – 8:00 PM Eastern Time

Between the hours listed above on the date listed above, we will introduce ourselves to Deron Williams. Tweet your location or a message to Deron using the hashtag #HelloDeron. We have a 3 hour gap to complete our goal due to the start of the NBA finals. However, if we successfully pull this off, the attention it will grab from the media and basketball fans preparing for Finals coverage will be special. Should we fail, a new time and date will be announced until we can accomplish our goal.

Spread the word. And let’s achieve our 1st goal.

At first, it was a twitter account. Which surpassed its Dallas counterpart in followers in less than 24 hours. Then, it was this website, which was completed in less than a week. In the future, it will be contests, charity initiatives, and demonstrations in fan power that will, hopefully, demonstrate to Deron how much he is loved by his current fanbase (and yes, Dallas and LA, he is still ours until he opts out). 

It is important that no one reading this mistakes this fansite for anything more than that – a fansite. Deron’s decision, as we noted in our message, will likely have nothing to do with any of this. It is a decision that is, quite frankly, limited to him and his family. This isn’t a plea for desperation, it is a dedication. A campaign striving to demonstrate that this fanbase isn’t about a one time dare or two. That it isn’t about one or two people shooting videos. It’s a movement that will demonstrate what Brooklyn players should expect when they suit up in black and white for the first time.
